Subject and Predicate

๐Ÿ’  *Easy Rules to Find the Subject and Predicate*

 1. Ask ‘Who?’ or ‘What?’ about the verb
- Read the sentence and ask yourself: *"Who is doing the action?"* or *"What is the sentence about?"*
- The answer is the **Subject**.

**Example:**
- *Ram goes to school.*
  - Who goes? → **Ram** → Subject (เคธเคฐ्เคตเคจाเคฎ / เคต्เคฏเค•्เคคी)

2. The Subject usually comes at the beginning
- In most simple sentences, the subject is before the verb. But sometimes it can come later.
- *Marathi:*Subject เคธเคนเคธा เคตाเค•्เคฏाเคš्เคฏा เคธुเคฐुเคตाเคคीเคฒा เคฏेเคคो เคชเคฃ เค•ाเคนी เคตेเคณा เคจंเคคเคฐเคนी เคฏेเคŠ เคถเค•เคคो.

**Example:**
- *The rain is falling heavily.* → Subject: **The rain (เคชाเคŠเคธ)**
- *On the table lies a book.* → Subject: **a book (เคชुเคธ्เคคเค•)**

### 3. The Subject is a noun or a pronoun
- The subject can be a person, place, thing, animal, or idea (noun) or a pronoun.
- *Marathi:* Subject เคนा เคจाเคฎ (เคต्เคฏเค•्เคคी, เคตเคธ्เคคू, เค िเค•ाเคฃ, เคช्เคฐाเคฃी, เค•เคฒ्เคชเคจा) เค•िंเคตा เคธเคฐ्เคตเคจाเคฎ เค…เคธเคคो.

**Example:**
- *She sings a song.* → Subject: **She (เคคी)**
- *The rabbit jumps high.* → Subject: **The rabbit (เคธเคธा)**

### 4. The Subject is NOT in the predicate
- The predicate contains the verb and gives information about the subject. The subject itself is separate.
- *Marathi:* Predicate เคฎเคง्เคฏे เค•्เคฐिเคฏाเคชเคฆ เค†เคฃि Subject เคตिเคทเคฏी เคฎाเคนिเคคी เค…เคธเคคे, เคชเคฃ subject เคตेเค—เคณा เค…เคธเคคो.

**Example:**
- *Mohan is eating lunch.*
  - Verb: **is eating**
  - Subject: **Mohan (เคฎोเคนเคจ)**

### 5. There is usually one main subject
- Even if a sentence has many words, there is usually one main subject or a compound subject.
- *Marathi:* เคตाเค•्เคฏाเคค เค…เคจेเค• เคถเคฌ्เคฆ เค…เคธเคฒे เคคเคฐी เคเค• เค•िंเคตा เคเค•เคค्เคฐिเคค เคฎुเค–्เคฏ Subject เค…เคธเคคो.

**Example:**
- *Sita and Geeta are singing.* → Subject: **Sita and Geeta (เคธीเคคा เค†เคฃि เค—ीเคคा)**

### 6. In imperative sentences, the subject is implied
- In commands, the subject is understood as “you” but is not written.
- *Marathi:* เค†เคœ्เคžाเคฐ्เคฅी เคตाเค•्เคฏांเคฎเคง्เคฏे Subject เคฒเคชเคฒेเคฒा เค…เคธเคคो, เคœो ‘เคคू’ เคธเคฎเคœเคฒा เคœाเคคो.

**Example:**
- *Close the door.* → Subject: **(You) (เคคू)**

๐Ÿ”ถQuick Tip:

Add a question tag

๐Ÿ”ฐ **English Grammar:*

   *Add Question Tags**

**1. What is a Question Tag?**
- A question tag is a short question added to the end of a statement.
- It turns a statement into a question, often to confirm or check information.

**2. Structure**

  *Example:*
  - She is coming, **isn't she**?
  - You don’t like tea, **do you**?

- If the statement is negative, the tag is positive:
  *He isn't here,* **is he**?
- Use the auxiliary (helping) verb from the statement in the tag.
- If there’s no auxiliary verb, use “do/does/did.”
  - *You eat meat,* **don't you**?
  - *He went home,* **didn't he**?

**4. Pronouns**
- Use the correct pronoun in the tag:
  - *Maria plays guitar,* **doesn't she**?
  - *The students are late,* **aren't they**?

**5. Special Cases**
- With **I am**, use “aren’t I” (informally):
  - *I am early,* **aren’t I**?
- With imperative sentences, use “will you,” “won’t you,” or “can you”:
  - *Open the door,* **will you**?

**6. Common Auxiliary Verbs Used**

 Pure Love Story

*๐Ÿ‚A Blind Man’s Love*

A man married a beautiful girl.  He loved her very much.  One day she developed a skin disease.  Slowly she started to lose her beauty.  It so happened that one day her husband left for a tour.  While returning he met with an accident and lost his eyesight.  However, their married life continued as usual.  But as days passed she lost her beauty gradually. Blind husband did not know this and there was not any difference in their married life.  He continued to love her and she also loved him very much.  One day she died.  Her death brought him a great sorrow.  He finished all her last rites and wanted to leave that town.

A man from behind called and said, “Now how will you be able to walk all alone?  All these days your wife used to help you”.  He replied, “I am not blind.  I was acting because if she knew l could see her skin condition due to a disease, it would have pained her more than her disease.  I didn’t love her for her beauty alone, but I fell in love with her caring and loving nature.  So I pretended to be blind.  I only wanted to keep her happy”.

*Moral:  When you truly love someone, you will go to any extent to keep your loved one happy and sometimes it is good for us to act blind and ignore one another’s short comings in order to be happy.  The Beauty will fade with time, but heart and soul will always be the same.  Love the person for what he/she is from inside, not from outside.*
